Integral Alliance – Haiti

Program Evaluation: Evaluated the IMAAS project in Haiti after Hurricane Matthew and showed successful collaboration between Integral Alliance partners, leading to improved effectiveness and efficiency in future disaster relief collaborations. Participants supported the assess and assist approach and recommended developing a shared assessment tool and contingency fund. To strengthen future collaborations, standard processes, staff training, and capacity building for national networks were suggested. 31 Integral Alliance staff (international) and 28 project beneficiaries (local) participated in the evaluation.

Aga Khan Foundation Canada – Ottawa

Training and Development: Designed and facilitated training sessions for the Annual Fellowship program to equip emerging leaders with skills and knowledge necessary for effective engagement in international development. Focus was on project formation in diverse communities experiencing longterm poverty. Experiential learning challenged assumptions and supported understanding of initiatives and methodologies best foster long-term sustainable change worldwide. Provided firsthand knowledge and experience in the field and addressed challenges, ethical dilemmas, and concrete examples of what international fellows might encounter during field placements.

ICA Refugee Event – Victoria

Group Facilitation: Developed a one-day training event and meal fully sponsored by local businesses to support the integration of new Syrian refugees and local host families. Over 200 participants attended the event, which was simultaneously translated into five languages. The event was hosted by a local radio personality, and Mayor Lisa Helps opened the day.

PAOC – Mississagua

Process Development: Developed and implemented a new process for training and supporting mission volunteers (2-12 month mid-termers) and team leader training across Canada and the USA. Established the STM Team Leader Certification as the standard of excellence for Short-Term Mission leaders and trained over 25,000 people for international work through one-on-one and large group facilitation, both live and through online video conferencing.

BC Transit – Victoria

Training and Development: Conducted leadership development and training session that focused on evaluating individual levels of leadership and identifying opportunities for growth. The session involved a mix of staff members and aimed to help participants understand their current level of leadership and its impact on their team’s response. Through interactive discussions and exercises, participants gained insights into their leadership style and were presented with ideas and strategies to enhance their ability and value as leaders.

Kwantlen Polytechnic University – Surry

Group Facilitation: Supported staff with two sessions for senior leadership through interactive structured activities. The activities were collaborative in nature and supported an appreciative inquiry approach to determine successful strategies to enhance communication with faculty. The executives actively engaged in action-oriented co-creation of new solutions.

New Hope Schools Society – Victoria

Group Facilitation: Created a safe space for participants to identify and articulate their personal values and discuss their significance. We then used this information to collaboratively develop a set of shared values that the board could use to guide decision-making and behaviour. This process allowed the New Hope Schools Society to gain a deeper understanding of their individual and collective values and how they could work together to achieve their goals.

Vic West Community Association

Group Facilitation: Presented interactive team building seminar for VWCA board of directors. The seminar focused on identifying and highlighting individual skills, abilities, and workstyle preferences within the group. Through shared experiences and participatory conversations, we were able to identify the various values in the group and how these unique areas of expertise can be shared for greater success. The seminar aimed to encourage open communication and collaboration among team members and to foster a more positive and productive working environment for the board of directors.

Soap for Hope Canada

Process Development: Directed and facilitated an internal and external stakeholder evaluation of program benefits for a hotel-charity partnership. Used an appreciative inquiry method to gather insights and feedback from all stakeholders including group facilitation and anonymous surveys with program participants, hotel staff, and charity representatives. Through this process, we identified shared understanding of the program benefits and potential for program improvement. The insights were used to develop clear action plans and workflows that supported partnership recruitment.

ERDO

Program Evaluation: Conducted comprehensive research on the Child Care Plus (CCP) program. Interviewed national and international staff to gain insights and understand program operations. Designed and updated clear workflows that enhanced the program’s efficacy and effectiveness while also identifying areas of improvement. The CCP program is a sponsorship program that provides support to children in developing countries, including basic necessities such as food, education, and healthcare.

Visionledd

Process Development: Facilitated the development of a comprehensive and impactful engagement program for volunteers to participate in global HIV/AIDS relief and development initiatives. This program included a recruitment, training, and deployment process for volunteers to effectively engage and support the organization on the ground. Ensured volunteers clearly understood organization’s mission and goals, developed the necessary skills, and emphasized the importance of cultural sensitivity and humility when working with communities affected by HIV/AIDS.

Shelter

Training and Development: Worked on-site in El Salvador during their leaders week to work alongside and train their 30+ leaders on best practices in international development to inspire and prepare their teams for future engagement. This organization inspires volunteers to build homes for people in need.

Victoria ESL Co-operative

Training and Development: Presented a course on cross-cultural communication for volunteer ESL teachers. The presentation was well-prepared, professional, and humorous, and was described as a must-have course for volunteer ESL teachers by Lynne Partel of the Organization for Refugee Resettlement.
